Brother Christopher B. Cowan Joins Morehouse College Board Of Trustees (Spring 1985)


The Morehouse College Board of Trustees recently announced the appointment of Brother Christopher B. Cowan to their leadership ranks.

Brother Cowan serves as Director of International Project Finance for the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, which provides financing and political risk insurance for companies investing in the emerging markets of Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. He is responsible for originating, structuring, and executing loans to companies in several business sectors, including transportation, tourism, telecommunications, mining, power generation, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, and manufacturing.

Brother Cowan received his BA in business from Morehouse College and an MBA in multinational management from the Wharton School. He also received a certificate in international business from the Stockholm School of Economics.

He lives in Washington, D.C., with his wife, two sons, and Lazlo, their beloved Basenji. An avid traveler, Cowan has a unique perspective on global food security and international animal welfare.

Brother Cowan joins a prestigious list of Alpha Rho alumni who have served as trustees of the college. Most recently, Alpha Rho's Robert C. Davidson (Fall 1964) served as chairman of the board, immediately preceded by another chapter brother, Willie "Flash" Davis (Fall 1954).

Other Alphamen currently serve on the board, including LaMell McMorris '95, Euclid Walker '94, Stan Washington '85, and Ambassador Andrew Young.
