Alpha Rho Chapter Alumni Association Pays Tribute To Our Fallen Brother -- RUBEN CLINTON RANSAW JR.
Brother Ruben Clinton Ransaw, Jr., 80, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2020. He was born April 10, 1939 in Alexander City, AL to Clinton & Annie Bell Ransaw, and later married his best friend & love, Nettie LeGrier Ransaw, on March 27, of 1962. Brother Ransaw served as principal of Miramar High School for two years. During his tenure at Miramar High School, he received the key to the City of Miramar and was honored in 1987 and 1989 by the Mayor of the City of Miramar for his dedication and outstanding contributions to Miramar High School and the City. In 1989, Brother Ransaw was asked to become the principal of Dillard High School where he served for three years before retiring from the Broward County School System on August 7, 1992, after serving completing thirty-one (31) years of public education service.
In 1955, Brother Ransaw became one of the founding members of the original Morehouse College Alumni Chapter of Broward County, Florida, and throughout his life actively recruited high school graduates to continue their education at Morehouse College (approximately 25 students enrolled by way of his leadership). He was also a past president of Zeta Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Ruben C. Ransaw, Jr. is survived by his wife Nettie; his sons Ruben Ransaw III (Beta Nu Chapter/FAMU) & Michael Ransaw (Tamara); and one son who preceded him in death Darryl Ransaw; grandchildren Raven Ransaw, Rave’ Ransaw, Ryan Ransaw, Jana Ransaw & Jenelle Dana Johnson (Joshua); great grandchildren Justin Ransaw & Juliana Johnson; sisters Mary Ransaw Riley (Eugene) & Margaret Ransaw Wright (Michael); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services in memory of Ruben C. Ransaw, Jr. will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 1:00 PM at: First Baptist Church Piney Grove, 4699 W Oakland Park Blvd, Lauderdale Lakes, FL 33313.
