Brother Robert (Tony) A. Dixon (Fall 1978) Receives Presidential Nomination To Serve As United State

On Wednesday, August 28, 2019, President of the United States Donald J. Trump announced the nomination of Robert A. Dixon of Washington D.C., to serve as United States Marshal for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Robert Dixon was most recently the Director of Investigations for the Department of Labor’s Office of the Inspector General, retiring in 2016. Mr. Dixon began his career with the Department of Labor in 1980 and has served in law enforcement for more than 30 years.

About Brother Tony Dixon:

Robert Anthony Dixon, aka Tony, (Alpha Rho, Fall 1978; Morehouse 1981) began his law enforcement career as a Criminal Investigator with the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Office of Labor Management Standards. He was recruited by and transferred to DOL’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) where he quickly rose to the rank of Senior Special Agent. After a brief OIG field career, he was successively promoted to the organization’s posts of Deputy Director of Program Fraud; Director of Program Fraud; Director of Labor Racketeering; and, ultimately, Director of Investigations, the first and only African American to hold the position.

In addition to his managerial accomplishments, Tony has conducted or overseen hundreds of investigations including, but not limited to labor racketeering, organized crime, health care fraud, identity theft, illegal immigration, and human trafficking. His investigative expertise and management acumen have been invaluable to his legacy of successfully spearheading investigative and policy changes that have positively impacted DOL programs and the federal investigative community.

He is the recipient of numerous recognitions, among them the Secretary of Labor’s Exceptional Service Impact, Exceptional Achievement, and Distinguished Career Service awards, and the OIG Academy’s William R. Barton Award.

Tony is a member of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) and currently serves as President of its Washington Metropolitan Chapter. In this role he continues his commitment to service by working to ensure that NOBLE lives up to its motto of “Justice by Action” while serving as a relevant and constructive voice in law enforcement. In addition to his numerous roles, Tony serves as a board member on the Alliance for Safe Traffic Stops. He is married to the lovely Lou E. Dixon.
