Brother Yaegel T. Welch (Spring 2000) Makes Broadway Debut In "The Play That Goes Wrong" -

After 13 years in the professional theatre game, Brother Yaegal T. Welch made his Broadway debut in The Play That Goes Wrong on September 2, 2018, and casting is now complete for the upcoming national tour which launches September 18 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Following his debut, Welch joins the touring cast of the successful stage comedy, which is currently the longest-running play on Broadway.

The company will be led by Scott Cote as Dennis, Peyton Crim as Robert, Brandon J. Ellis as Trevor, Angela Grovey as Annie, Ned Noyes as Max, Jamie Ann Romero as Sandra, Evan Alexander Smith as Chris, and Yaegel T. Welch as Jonathan. The cast also features Blair Baker, Jacqueline Jarrold, Sid Solomon, and Michael Thatcher.

Co-written by Mischief Theatre company members Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields, The Play That Goes Wrong introduces The Cornley University Drama Society, who is attempting to put on a 1920s murder mystery, but as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong does as the accident-prone thespians battle on against all odds to get to their final curtain call.

The Broadway production, which transferred from the West End, opened at the Lyceum Theatre April 2, 2017. It went on to receive a Tony Award for Best Set Design and will play its final performance January 6, 2019.

The upcoming tour will be directed by Matt DiCarlo with set design by Nigel Hook, lighting design by Ric Mountjoy, sound design by Andy Johnson, and costume design by Roberto Surace.
